Betcha I Can Roll That Dime All the Way Down the Guggenheim!
This is a rollicking, fast-paced page-turner, which is loaded with hooks for kids and which has obvious appeal to parents and educators by introducing kids to a famous art museum and some of the great art in it. Join Kit, Jazz and Clementine on their adventure at the Guggenheim Museum!
I Wish They Would Come in for Tea
A boy looks out a window one morning and sees birds in the snow, not unlike a scene from Ezra Jack Keats’ Snowy Day. The birds come in for tea and a series of page-turning moments follow, beginning with “I wish they would come in for tea… then go on a walk.” This pattern continues, such as for example, “I wish they would go sledding … ice skating too.” The story ends with the birds reading the boy a bedtime story, tucking him in bed, and the boy dreaming of the birds taking him flying “way up high.”
Dog Daddy
Izzy pines for a dog, but her father is allergic to dogs. She resorts to asking for a dog in a series of escalating requests, but the answer is always no. Frustrated, she climbs up on her father’s lap and asks “Daddy, would you be my dog?” Her father indulges her. One day he’s a dalmatian, another day he’s a St. Bernard dog, and so on. The story ends with a twist involving a cat.
